In this article, I share the learning process I have been using consistently with AI: moving from the emptiness of just "doing it" to understanding what "doing it well" truly means, and finally pursuing the standard of "exceeding expectations." Through a five-step learning process paired with a questioning workflow, I have outlined how to build initial understanding and AI literacy. This allows me to move from merely "doing it" to "doing it well" or even "exceeding expectations," successfully turning AI into a true collaborative partner rather than a generator of text garbage. Contents include:

Introduction

AI will amplify what you want to achieve, but it will also magnify your flaws. When you learn to master the way you drive it, that is when your strength begins.
Is this you?

Yi-Zhen is a marketing planner currently preparing to transition to an eco-friendly product company. She has been working on a related portfolio recently and wants to try using AI to improve the efficiency of her work output.

So, she opened ChatGPT and entered: "Please help me generate a marketing post for a sustainable product; the theme is green living, and I hope it is under 700 words."

She saw that ChatGPT quickly gave her a set of sentences with the correct tone and a complete structure. She felt the format and content were exactly what she wanted.

However, even looking at it herself, she felt absolutely no heartbeat for the post, let alone it being something others would share.

"The post is completed, but is this really a good marketing copy?" She felt that AI had indeed finished the job, but there was an indescribable sense of emptiness and anxiety.

The lens now turns to Bo-Yan, a student who just graduated from university and is very interested in data science.

Because the fields of data analysis and big data are very popular now, Bo-Yan wants to teach himself Python and apply it to the field of data analysis.

As he thought about it, he felt his ideas were very forward-looking.

However, he stood in front of the computer book rack at the bookstore, looking at a whole row of books like "Python for Beginners," "Data Science in Action," and "AI Programming," completely unsure of which one to choose.

So he decided to let AI give him a preliminary screening first. He opened Copilot and entered: "I want to learn Python knowledge applied in the data science field; please help me organize suitable learning resources."

AI, as he wished, organized a vast amount of resources including books and online courses. After Bo-Yan finished looking at them, he felt it wasn't any easier than picking books in a bookstore.

He even thought about how every Python book looks very thick. The thought of finishing and learning from them by himself was already painful enough; if he encountered problems in the middle and had no one to ask, what should he do?

In the past, the problem was having no channels or resources to learn; now that resources are abundant, it has instead created a different kind of trouble.

Next, the screen turns to Zi-Rui, a self-media worker running a personal brand. He mainly shares life records and unboxing reviews on Vocus, and has recently started using AI to assist in writing articles, hoping to improve both volume and quality.

One day, Zi-Rui particularly wanted to talk about bedtime rituals and how such rituals can help with sleep. He opened Gemini and, after entering some viewpoints he hoped the article would discuss, he wrote the final Opening Line: "Please write an article about how bedtime rituals help with sleep based on the viewpoints I provided earlier; keep the tone as gentle as possible."

He saw that AI quickly generated an article with a complete structure and a gentle tone. He thought it was pretty good, so he made some minor edits and published it to his blog and social media platforms.

Not long after, he discovered some readers commenting below, saying things like, "This article looks so obviously AI-generated!" or "I've seen articles like this countless times; it's just like clickbait soul-soup."

Zi-Rui felt very frustrated. Clearly, he had participated in the editing, yet it was said to lack personal identity; he couldn't help but start thinking about what AI is actually capable of doing.

More Than Just Finishing a Task—Making It Stun

These things that happened sound like the daily routine of using AI. Although we can talk to AI as soon as we open a webpage, it seems we don't really know it that well.

Or perhaps we aren't even clear about how AI can help us. It seems that many times we spend a lot of time talking to AI, only to collect a pile of text garbage at the end.

But is it really the same for everyone? Actually, not necessarily.

There is a group of people who frequently use AI to help them with matters and decisions big and small in life.

Whatever is produced from their hands can achieve correspondingly great results. They no longer just "do things"; they know how to do things well, do them deeply, and even do them beyond expectations and make them stunning.

Moreover, their speed in moving from a completely unfamiliar field to being able to produce high-quality content, works, and strategies is also staggering.

It seems that for them, as long as they have AI in hand, they have infinite possibilities.

Doing It ≠ Completion: An Error in Judgment

This misjudgment of "thinking that doing it counts as completion" actually never appears only in novice AI users.

In the autumn of 2025, the AI teaching circle in Taiwan also broke a shocking industry event. A teacher who taught "Vibe coding," while promoting a self-made image modification website created via Vibe coding, mistakenly used a Google Gemini API Key, causing all users' calculation costs to be charged to her own account.

In just a few days, a bill of over 10,000 TWD accumulated. The teacher once publicly criticized Google's mechanism as unfair, until the community revealed she had committed several basic errors, including misjudging API flow, neglecting cost control, and poor security design.

In fact, the crux of this matter was not just that the technology was not up to par, but that there was a mistake in judging the "Completion" of a task.

She thought that "as long as the website is made and can be used, it's fine," but failed to further check the programming logic generated by AI, failed to verify the billing mechanism after deployment, and failed to set cost limits and alerts.

You will find that what she finished was only "superficial delivery and completion," rather than completing a "product that can truly operate safely." This is clearly a judgment error regarding "Completion" standards.

At the same time, this incident also reminded us that so-called completion is not just about making something and then having it look like it can be used; it needs to go through judgment, and standards will vary with different situations.

What exactly is "Completion"?

In fact, the incident described earlier is not just a single person's mistake; there might be many similar problems, and it just so happened that this event broke out at this point in time.

To be honest, this is not as simple as a single incident, but rather a difference in the standard of "Completion" recognized by different people.

When the tools that can be used become increasingly diverse and convenient, because producing results is too easy, it causes us to feel confused about what level can be called "Completion."

The things encountered in the Vibe coding incident are likely something every one of us has experienced to some degree, and not just in this era with AI.

In our student days, we might have thought that filling a report with words and handing it in within the time limit was called completion. In the workplace, simply finishing keying in this spreadsheet and handing it over is also called completion.

But is this really completion? Your heart might have a negative answer, but you might also be a bit uncertain.

You will notice that whenever we say "I've finished" regarding a task, we are actually aligning with a certain standard. Once the task reaches that level, you judge it as finished.

The biggest problem is that everyone's recognition of this "Completion" standard varies. This is also one of the situations that creates problems in group assignments during student days, workplace cooperation, or entrepreneurial collaboration.

In a group report, someone might think that finishing the research and pasting it onto a PPT is a type of completion, but someone else might think that since it's a presentation, the slides and the report flow should be made easy to read and understand to be considered completion.

See, even a group report has such large differences, let alone other tasks?

Therefore, in this article, we want to try to analyze what kind of standards "Completion" probably has. You can also take this opportunity to examine which standard you usually align with for different tasks.

Which standard are you currently aligning with?

Just as we said before, when we say "I've finished," we are actually aligning with a certain standard. So specifically, what standards are there? Let me explain slowly.

The first type of standard is the objective standard, which is also the easiest layer to judge. It can be verified by clear mechanisms such as logic, quality, and format—for example, correct formatting, normal functionality, complete data, no errors, and submission within the deadline.

This type of standard can usually be achieved using checklists, testing processes, or logical comparisons. At the same time, this is also what AI is best at handling.

Objective standards belong to the most basic requirements of a task. If it cannot meet the most basic objective standards, the task is basically a failure and cannot even be called completed.

The second type of standard is the subjective standard, which belongs to expectations and judgments from specific others. Although these standards are not universal consensus, they have a strong influence on actual tasks.

Such standards include things like whether it meets the supervisor's requirements, or whether it meets the expectations of stakeholders or partners. Most are non-mandatory; if not achieved, it doesn't necessarily mean anything will happen.

Subjective standards cannot be verified using logic, but they can be predicted and aligned through role understanding and situational design—that is, thinking about the matter from the perspective of that role.

Although this type of standard is not necessarily related to task completion, it deeply affects the trust relationship with relevant people and whether the corresponding favorability can be increased.

However, it should be noted that if expectations and judgments come from specific others but are mandatory, then this is not a subjective standard, but an objective standard.

For example, whether it is legal or whether it complies with company internal regulations—although these come from the expectations and judgments of specific others, they constitute part of the framework of the task requirements.

The third type of standard is the standard where subjective turns into objective. These standards were originally just subjective standards from others, but because of the large quantity, they caused a qualitative change and turned into the objective standard of a certain group.

Because the number of people is large enough and stable enough, these types of standards have actually become specific deep goals that can be predicted and observed—such as the preferences of consumers of a specific group, the morality and values of a group, whether a product resonates with the consumer group, and so on.

These standards can be detected through understanding the market, understanding theoretical knowledge, social observation, etc. There is an opportunity to learn about them through AI observation using big data.

Three Levels of Completion: Did it x Done well x Exceeding Expectations

When you have a clear idea about different completion standards, you will realize that not all "finished" states are equal; some are only superficial deliveries, while others can deeply influence specific groups.

Therefore, in this article, we will divide completion into three levels through different alignment standards: Did it, Done well, and Exceeding expectations.

The first level is "Did it," which means you have met the objective standards and completed the superficial task. You have handed in something that fits the format, works, and has no errors that violate various framework constraints.

You did that, but only that.

It is very likely that you wrote a report, but it was just a collection of information cut and pasted from the internet without digestion, absorption, or organized formatting. Or perhaps you solved a single problem but never thought about using a more systematic way to solve and prevent it.

This level of completion can only be said to be usable, but it cannot have a deeper influence; it is just a very simple, superficial "completion," which essentially means "having done the work."

The second level goes further than the first. In addition to the framework requirements of the original objective standards, the task you perform simultaneously reaches a deep goal—that is, the standard where subjective turns into objective.

You haven't just delivered something; you have considered the meaning and the need behind every task and satisfied that need.

For example, as a marketer, when writing a post, you would think about the meaning behind the post—whether it is for traffic or conversions—and thus design the image or copy to try and make the post achieve that effect.

Or when a supervisor assigns you a task to write an SOP, you would consider that many people will be reading this SOP later, so you deliberately write it to be very accessible and easy to understand.

The second level of completion is an opportunity for you to improve others' impression of you; it can create a sense of trust, make others willing to cooperate with you, and make the output impactful.

In this article, we refer to this level of completion as "Done well."

The third level of completion goes even further than the second. It not only meets the objective standards and the standards where subjective turns into objective, but also satisfies the subjective standards of a certain group of people.

It goes beyond completing superficial task goals and deep goals, while also creating other added values on top of existing task completion.

Taking the previous SOP writing as an example, because your SOP was particularly easy to read and understand, it was later listed as a teaching template for writing SOPs. It moved from the deep goal of just wanting process optimization without errors to producing the added value of serving as a teaching template.

For this level of completion, we refer to it here as "Exceeding expectations."

The standard of "Exceeding expectations" not only increases the sense of trust others have in you but is also the key to making a lasting impression.

To what extent should I achieve?

Seeing these three different standards, some readers might have the image of one or two classmates or colleagues surface in their minds.

To say they didn't do work at school or in the workplace would be a bit much. But they always seem to have a feeling of just doing things for the sake of it; things never feel like they are done properly, and the results they hand in always require major revisions before they can be used, which always leaves you feeling troubled.

These people are actually those who only have the standard of "Did it" and haven't reached the standard of "Done well." Of course, we still have many people who haven't even met the "Did it" standard (laughs).

From this, it is evident that if you hope to build trust relationships with others or get more opportunities such as promotions or collaborations in the workplace or various cooperative situations, simply "doing it" is insufficient.

Based on my own experience, whether in a general workplace, my minimum requirement for every task is to "Done well," so I will think about whether every assigned task has an underlying deep purpose and complete every job based on that purpose.

In entrepreneurship, because there is also market competition, simply "Done well" is not enough; one must be able to achieve "Exceeding expectations" to survive for a long time.

If we look at the completion standard of the Vibe coding incident mentioned earlier, I personally believe it didn't even reach the "Did it" standard.

The Minimum Threshold for Using AI Output

Generational differences in learning processes

Before AI existed, or before AI was truly integrated into our lives, under traditional learning processes, we were accustomed to moving forward like this: learn theory first → understand standards → then perform output.

This sequence allowed us to have a built-in judgment system before we started doing things, knowing what is "Done well" and what would be "not good enough."

But in the era of AI, this sequence has clearly been disrupted. It becomes: output a basic version first → then optimize it into what it looks like to be "Done well."

The most amazing thing about AI is that it allows us to start producing with just a few keywords even when we don't understand anything at all. This is a liberation never thought of before, but it brings new risks.

We can easily get stuck at the "Did it" level, mistakenly thinking this is the standard for completion and for handing in work, or even in very bad cases, believing that this is "Done well."

What is even more subtle is that what AI itself is best at is helping you achieve a result that "looks like it's Done well." It can help you fill in content, fix formats, and adjust tone, but in fact, it cannot help you judge whether such an output result truly has value or can create impact.

This is why we need to redefine the standard of "Completion" in this article. Before AI can help you reach "Done well" or even "Exceeding expectations," you must first know what these standards look like.

Why simply "Did it" is not enough?

We mentioned earlier that AI can make "Did it" very easy. In other words, for everyone, "Did it" becomes a minimum requirement.

"This is very simple; you can just run it with AI, right?" This is the sentence most often heard in recent years.

When everyone can achieve this, creating differentiation requires doing more than just "Did it."

And if you look back at every task you truly cared about in the past—whether it was a report, a post, a website, or a project—you will find that you didn't just want to "hand it in"; you hoped it would produce the effect and impact you wanted.

But the problem is, we often don't have enough ability to reach the level of "Done well" or "Exceeding expectations." In fact, many times we hope to achieve the effects of these two standards but don't necessarily know the path to get there.

At this time, we cannot rely solely on AI output; we ourselves must also put in a certain amount of effort to become the person who can tell AI where the standards for "Done well" and "Exceeding expectations" are.

Under this condition, AI can be more than just a simple tool for work; it can transform into a collaborative partner, helping you fill in that distant goal that your current ability might not reach but you can see.

But the premise for this is that you must be able to know what "Done well" looks like.

This "Done well" appearance doesn't mean a wish-like "I hope this post can be liked by consumers," but rather an understanding like "what a post that consumers like should look like."

Knowing what "Done well" looks like is the minimum threshold for using AI output

What AI can do is help you get closer to the completion levels of "Done well" or even "Exceeding expectations," but it cannot decide what is "good" on its own.

It can only simulate a version that "looks like completion" based on the language, instructions, and standards you give it.

This is why you must first know what "Done well" looks like, or you must be able to use methods to let AI know what that "Done well" appearance is.

Just as you hope a post can truly hit the hearts of consumers, what you need to know is "what kind of post consumers will buy into." This might come from your observation of the market or from marketing background knowledge in textbooks.

And these are your "initial understandings" of this field.

"You don't need to keep all this knowledge in your head; you just need to know where to find them when you need to use them." This is a sentence we have all heard more or less during our schooling.

You don't need to be an expert in every field, but you need to be able to identify what is reasonable and what is absurd, and whether such an output from AI can actually achieve the purpose you hope for.

These are the starting points that allow AI to be helpful.

Imagining what "Done well" looks like is a form of Initial Understanding

When we say you must possess the "imagination of standards for doing it well," we are actually talking about a judgment ability, not academic "knowing a lot," but a practical "ability to operate."

We call this ability "initial understanding," and it consists of four different aspects:

Ability to identify basic concepts and keywords: You know what the core terms in this field mean, and you can understand the core meaning and extend it.

Ability to perform semantic judgment: When AI gives you a definition or reply, you can feel whether it is reasonable, logical, and whether it has misunderstood, even if you cannot fully explain it, you can try to find the correct answer in powerful and authoritative resources.

Ability to ask specific questions: You no longer just ask "What is this?" but can ask "What is the difference between this and that?" or "How can this be used?"

Ability to perform initial translation or give examples: You can try to say terms or knowledge in a specific field once in your own words, or give an example to illustrate the concept, even if it is not completely accurate.

Does it look abstract? Here are a few sentences you can use to judge whether you have entered the state of initial understanding:

"Can I explain the concept of __(a technical term in a certain field)__ in my own words?"

"Can I distinguish the difference between __(technical term A)__ and __(technical term B)__?"

"Can I ask a specific question regarding __(a technical term in a certain field)__?"

"Do I know where to find answers related to __(a technical term in a certain field)__?"

If you can do two or more of these, then you already possess the minimum threshold for using AI for output, which is initial understanding.

But to make AI a true collaborative partner, another set of abilities is needed—which we call AI literacy.

Initial Understanding x AI Literacy = Maximum Benefit

Once you possess initial understanding knowledge, it means you can already talk to AI and propose reasonable demands.

But to make AI's output truly close to your standards, another set of comprehensive abilities is needed—we call this AI literacy.

This set of abilities is not a technical threshold but a maturity of language and judgment. It cannot necessarily be improved immediately through short-term knowledge supplements; on the contrary, it must be developed through judgment and familiarity trained by long-term AI use.

And such ability is very useful regardless of which AI tool is used, even if it is not a chat-box type AI tool.

Below we will explain what the essence of these abilities is and whether we have assisted prompters in meeting these requirements through some systematic processes earlier.

First, one must possess AI tool identification ability, which means knowing what kind of AI tool one is using, what it is good at, and where its limitations are.

What this ability needs to know is what kind of things can be handed over to AI for execution and what kind of things can be completed by setting macros.

Another thing is to realize that chat-box type AI tools cannot work like specialized tools, and which things we should leave to specific AI programs to complete.

What things can be handled by AI and what things cannot.

Knowing what a tool can and cannot do will decide to what extent you can trust it and what kind of tasks you can comfortably hand over to it. Therefore, tool identification ability is the most basic ability one should possess.

This part relies on the user's proficiency with different AI tools. Given that AI tools change every day, it is quite regrettable that it is harder to assist prompters in becoming familiar through this series of articles.

However, we will continue to update useful AI tools in other blog articles to help users become more familiar; this is something we can do later.

Next is language recognition ability. You must be able to judge whether the sentences AI gives you are drafts, structures, or optimized versions, rather than blindly accepting its output.

Generally, we use chat-box type AI mainly to produce text-based content, so judging what the thing AI gives you actually is, is very important.

This part can be judged through our earlier systematic processes, where users can judge whether the results produced by AI already possess execution ability and whether they align with the task goals.

Then there is goal-oriented ability. You must be able to be very clear about what kind of task you want to achieve, its specific content and framework, and how it should be presented to be correct.

This part is in the system we designed earlier, where prompters can fill in the required fields in the corresponding Opening Line based on different Motivations.

Prompters can use these fields to assist themselves in clarifying the content and constraints required for different tasks to make their task goals more concrete.

So don't worry, this part can already be handled by our earlier systematic process to help you concretize what you need AI to do for you in different tasks.

The fourth ability needed is verification and critique ability, which is considered one of the most necessary abilities when using AI.

You must be able to distinguish which content is reasonable and which is absurd and illogical, knowing which needs revision and which can be kept.

Establishing such judgment mainly relies on whether the prompter's knowledge of the task requirements has reached the level of "initial understanding."

Another most important part of this ability is to be able to judge whether the reply given by AI is based on searching for relevant data to give a conclusion—that is, retrieval generation—or based on being trained by a language model to judge the text most likely to appear next—that is, simulated generation.

Of course, we can prevent this situation through the quality audit techniques mentioned in the article above, but because in our system design, AI will not proactively help check this part, it still relies on the prompter's sensitivity toward AI replies.

Finally, there is an ability that is not given much attention but is also very important: editing and reconstruction ability.

For content that has undergone verification and calibration, although it already possesses the ability to be output as a finished product, whether it truly fits the prompter's task goal still relies on the prompter's final check.

If we completely accept AI output without revision, it will be like many articles and graphics on the market now that get evaluated as: "This looks too much like AI!"

Using AI for output is a trend, but in a situation where the produced things look too much like AI, it will now instead be labeled negatively rather than being a characteristic.

And originally, it should be the prompter who is responsible for the final output check of every task. If the prompter is to be responsible for checking this final quality, it still relies on the "initial understanding" of the specific field.

So have you noticed one thing? In fact, the questioning process proposed in this series of articles, combined with an initial understanding of specific field knowledge, can solve most of the problems you encounter when using AI.

The remaining missing part is the "AI Literacy" mentioned in this section, helping us complete the final corner.

And these five abilities, just as we said before, some can be solved through the questioning system established in previous series articles, and some can be handled through the amount of initial understanding knowledge, but other parts rely on more practice and use to establish.

When you possess initial understanding and can operate these literacies, you truly stand on the threshold of AI collaboration—not just "knowing how to use it," but "using it accurately," "using it deeply," and "using it to create value."

But the question comes, what if we are not familiar with a field at all?

In the next section, we will formally enter the "from 0 to initial understanding" learning module, accompanying you step by step to build these abilities, making AI not just a production tool, but your sparring partner and a sense-of-completion amplifier.

AI Collaborative Learning from 0 to Initial Understanding

Before learning begins

In past articles, we spent a long time talking about how to ask AI questions, how to design an Opening Line, and how to make AI a collaborator in task solving.

But for many prompters or learners, the threshold for learning a new field has never been "not knowing how to follow up," but rather not knowing "whether one understands" or "to what extent one needs to reach to be considered to understand."

They will have a task goal in mind, but they have absolutely no concept of the "Done well" standard for achieving that task goal.

At this time, rather than rushing to learn or output, it is better to first start with the questioning module established by this series of articles, clarify your goal and standard, and then come back here to start learning. Only when you can clearly state a vague imagination of your task, should you activate the learning process here.

We will have more descriptions of this part at the end of this article.

Therefore, this entire learning process of ours is suitable for those who can already roughly describe "Done well," but don't know how to achieve it or verify whether AI output meets the standards of the prompter or learner.

And the goal of our learning process is not to teach you specific knowledge, but to accompany you throughout the entire learning process from "knowing nothing" toward the level of "possessing initial understanding + being able to self-verify."

It allows you to already possess the background knowledge to write an Opening Line that lets AI produce high-quality and logical results before you enter the output stage.

The learning process we designed will start from your learning intent. You will first state the purpose of your learning this time—what task you want to perform, who you are learning for, and what kind of effect you hope to achieve.

Next, AI will expand corresponding skill learning nodes based on your needs and task goals, letting you know which skill components will be involved if this task is to be completed to the "Done well" standard.

And once you are clear about the skill nodes for doing this task well, AI will provide you with authoritative resource sources, letting you start to have an initial understanding of this new field and building the framework and base.

And of course, during the learning process, there will certainly be points where you get stuck or don't understand. At this time, our learning process also has corresponding handling methods that can let AI assist you in clarifying the problems encountered.

Finally, you can even say this concept once in your own words, let AI help you judge whether you truly understand the content you have learned, and even ask it to design a few questions to test your understanding.

And when you complete this entire process and all the skill nodes, you will have reached the level of initial understanding for the task you need to perform.

At this point, you can formally enter the output stage, turn to the entire questioning process mentioned in our previous articles, and begin optimizing and producing content.

This set of processes does not rely on a specific field, nor is it bound to a specific skill set. Whether you want to learn venue flow design, post-tone writing, data governance concepts, or social interaction rhythm, as long as you can roughly describe the possible appearance of "Done well," you can apply this process and build your language ability and judgment step by step.

Step 1: Task Intent and Skill Development

In the learning process we designed, although the task itself is the most important key to starting your learning, the true starting point has never been the task itself, but rather the learner's learning intent.

This includes why they want to learn, who they are learning for, and what they want to achieve after learning.

You will find that learners start this process not just to simply finish a certain thing, but to let this thing reach a deep goal, not just superficial delivery.

Some learners even hope that one day they can not rely on AI and personally produce results that can surpass AI output.

Such a mindset is quite rare in this generation where many people hope to quickly finish and just hand in work.

Therefore, we do not encourage learners to directly ask AI to handle problems but instead let AI transform into a role that accompanies learning, where the learner initiates learning and AI spars with skills.

At the beginning of this learning segment, what the learner needs to do first is think about their current learning starting point—such as knowing nothing about a certain field, reading but being a bit stuck, or already possessing initial understanding but wanting to confirm.

Next, the learner also needs to clarify and understand background information such as the purpose of their learning, the effect they hope to achieve after learning, and even the audience they hope to help.

After thinking about it, these contents will be integrated into a text prompt, with a sentence added at the end: "Please judge whether there is still information I need to supplement. If not, please accompany me in expanding the corresponding skill nodes so that I can learn this ability."

The highlight of this design is that we have reserved a space for AI to judge whether the learning needs proposed by the learner are complete and need supplementation, allowing AI to propose a more complete learning map that fits the task.

Additionally, since this learning process leans more toward AI recommending authoritative resources as introductory resources rather than AI leading the learner in learning, there will be a fixed template sentence at the back of the Opening Line: "I hope to look for suitable learning resources in the next stage; please help me build a clear skill framework as a basis for subsequent learning," making it easier to introduce subsequent learning resource recommendations.

So the entire process is very simple: AI will first judge whether the demand is clear and whether it possesses operability. If there are still areas needing supplementation, AI will respond and assist in completing them. If it is already clear enough, AI will directly expand skill nodes, telling the learner which abilities this goal needs, how to learn them, and what the sequence is.

Therefore, you will find why we have always emphasized that this learning process must be for "learners who already know the 'Done well' standard," because only then can you more precisely propose your learning purpose and the result you hope to reach.

From the example above, you can see that although it is a unique learning process, it still does not deviate from what we mentioned earlier in this series: you must clearly explain the background knowledge during AI dialogue to obtain output results that fit your needs.

And because this skill background is expanded based on the relevant background and current knowledge understanding you provided, this is not a one-size-fits-all learning process, but a learning map specially crafted for a specific learner.

Step 2: Learning Resource Navigation and Learning Standard Design

Once the skill nodes are expanded, learners can activate the subsequent learning process for each skill node one by one.

Given that we have repeatedly emphasized in this series that AI has two different modes—simulated generation and retrieval generation—there is a possibility of hallucinations or errors under the simulated generation mode.

Even in retrieval generation, there is a risk of mistakenly using incorrect but high-traffic content as a basis for the reply.

Based on the reasons above, in this learning process, AI is not suitable as the source of learning content itself, but it is an excellent assistant. It can help you broadly search for suitable learning resources to choose from and plan your learning progress according to your personal situation.

AI will provide authoritative and suitable resources based on your skill nodes and learning state, including online courses, tutorial articles, introductory guides, professional communities, or even physical books.

These resources will not be randomly recommended; they will be sorted and arranged according to your goals and language state, letting you know what to look at first, what to look at next, and how to apply it in the end.

Of course, you can also proactively provide your available learning time and ask AI to help arrange the learning rhythm and progress.

For example, you could say: "I have three hours a week for learning; please help me arrange the learning sequence and time allocation for this skill." AI will then design an executable learning process based on your time constraints, so you don't just know what to learn, but also how, when, and what you can do after learning.

Of course, these skills are not tasks completed all at once but abilities to be built progressively. Learners can issue a new text prompt for each skill node, asking AI to assist in providing suitable learning resources and arranging the learning sequence.

This statement can include: which skill node you want to master, your current understanding state, your preferred learning method (e.g., reading, video, hands-on), and available learning time or rhythm requirements (e.g., hours per week, hope to finish in two weeks).

After AI has planned the resources and arrangements available for learning, we will further activate the "Task-Aligned Learning Standard Design."

The purpose of this design is to help you know: when you complete this segment of learning, how do you judge if you have truly learned it?

AI will provide a set of operable result standards for each skill node based on your original task intent. These standards will not be abstract "understanding" but concrete challenges, such as: can you use this concept to write a post, design an activity, or respond to a simulated scenario?

It is very much like a post-class worksheet, serving as a judgment indicator to detect whether you have truly learned the material.

We have integrated the previous content into the following text prompt; you can adjust it to fit your situation:

This design makes the entire learning process sustainable and adjustable, ensuring each skill node is mastered steadily. You don't need to master everything at once; you only need to issue a text prompt for each node, activate resource navigation, arrange the learning process, and then enter the sparring module. This rhythm can be reused until you truly build the ability.

As a side note, because AI also has the problem of amnesia.

I personally organize the arranged learning progress, resources, and goals in Notion first, and when needed, I can backfill them to the AI to remind it of the content we previously discussed.

This is a very useful tip! Never fully trust an AI's memory.

Step 3: Let AI Be Your Learning Sparring Partner

When learners obtain learning resources and start learning according to the arranged progress, things won't immediately result in knowledge and skills as if by magic.

If it were that smooth, we would have all scored 100 on every exam during our student years and wouldn't have needed tutoring or home teachers, right?

Therefore, regardless of whether your final learning decision is to use textbooks, attend courses, browse community discussions, or practice operations, you may encounter unclear semantics, difficult logic, or complex structures that require explanation or clarification during the process.

This is where our third step comes in handy. Our designed process provides four primary clarification methods to help AI assist you in pushing forward when you encounter problems during learning. We provide corresponding text prompt templates for each part.

Method 1: Concept Clarification

If you encounter an unfamiliar term, theory, or jargon during the learning process, you can ask AI to explain its meaning and provide examples. You can use the following sample text prompt, modifying it to your situation before pasting:

Of course, you can also be more flexible; for instance, you can describe how much you understand so far and ask to confirm if your understanding is correct. This back-and-forth can gradually build a clear outline of a term or concept you were originally unfamiliar with.

Method 2: Structural Understanding

If you are reading a piece of teaching material, a process, or a theoretical framework but are unsure of its composition or logical order, you can ask AI to help organize key points, summarize the process, or list elements.

You can utilize the following sample text prompt, modifying it to your situation before pasting:

I often do this myself while reading; if there is an entire passage where the arguments are stacked and a bit hard to follow, I'm used to copying the whole segment and asking AI to organize it into bulleted key points to save time on deconstruction and understanding.

Method 3: Tone Translation

When you find a passage too abstract, technical, or hard to remember, you can ask AI to translate it into everyday language, a teaching tone, or a metaphorical style.

It can help you link the new content to your existing knowledge and fields, allowing you to understand the new material more quickly and making it feel simpler and more familiar.

You can follow the sample text prompt below, modifying it to your situation before pasting:

Method 4: Application Imagination

Sometimes, if the theory is too abstract, it's hard to imagine how it would be applied in reality. This is when this method takes the stage.

You can ask AI to provide examples or even design an activity to turn abstract knowledge into concrete operations. You can apply the following sample text prompt, modifying it to your situation before pasting:

While writing this series, I found the "Socratic Method" during research. After reading about it, I felt I didn't fully understand it yet, so I asked AI to design a Socratic-style teaching session to help me better understand how this interaction method works.

Method 4 may seem unremarkable, but if used well, it can have surprisingly good effects!

At this point, we must emphasize again: an AI's reply is never an absolute conclusion. Learners should always maintain a skeptical and open tone toward AI replies.

That's why we designed it so that every AI explanation and reply must be accompanied by information sources, allowing learners to personally review, compare, and verify. This design is not just to avoid misunderstanding but is a training in learning responsibility.

Learners cannot just passively receive information; they must actively participate in the process of understanding, strengthening their grasp of knowledge, skills, and judgment through verification and comparison.

This rhythm can be used repeatedly until the prompter truly masters the tone and logic of that skill node.

Step 4: Self-Testing with the Worksheet

After clarifying your task goals and repeatedly understanding the content you want to learn through reading and searching, the final step for each skill node is to verify whether you can truly be considered to have "learned" the skill or knowledge.

Here, we will place the task-aligned learning standards into the text prompt and ask AI to help detect if we have learned the material according to those standards.

The reason for re-pasting the learning standards is that even if you opened an independent page for a single skill, AI is very likely to have lost its memory after multiple rounds of dialogue and needs you to help it recall.

After using this text prompt, AI will follow your learning standards (it might be stating a definition in your own words, designing three scenarios, or answering a certain question) to let you confirm through some small implementation or test whether you have truly understood or learned everything.

Step 5: Moving to the Next Stage

Once you confirm you've completed a skill node, you can move on to the next one if the task requires multiple skills.

At the start of the next skill node, you can return to our second step: beginning the learning of a new skill node from finding authoritative resources, designing learning methods and processes, clarifying during the learning process, and the final verification.

Over and over, you might not be used to this learning process at first, but you will become increasingly familiar and skilled with it.

When you have completed the skill node learning, resource introduction, language practice, and initial understanding verification, the entire learning process enters the convergence stage. The focus now is no longer on "what else to learn" but on "what can I start doing."

At this point, you can prepare to enter the task output stage, applying this ability to a real task and re-activating the questioning methods mentioned in the earlier articles of our series to formally complete the entire task.

The task output itself might even become the starting point for the next round of skill expansion, as you will clearly know what you're still missing and how to improve after each task completion.

This learning module will be like a flywheel, driving you faster and further.

This learning process also lays the foundation for the subsequent ability to "exceed expectations."

Only when you know how to "do it properly" can you further design tones and added values that make people feel "cared for," "understood," and "stunned." The entire learning process isn't just about teaching you how to do it; it teaches you how to judge, how to align, and how to make language a true ability.

How do I know what is "Done well"?

Earlier, we mentioned that our learning module can help prompters move from zero to possessing initial understanding knowledge. However, this learning process has a very important prerequisite: you must "recognize the standard for 'Done well'," which means having a basic outline description of what "Done well" entails.

You might not necessarily know how to verify it yet, but you should be able to roughly state what situation would count as doing the job well.

As we have also mentioned, this standard for doing it well comes from what was originally a personal subjective standard, but because a certain group—or even the majority of people—share that standard, it shifts from being subjective to an objective standard.

It might be a certain market quality expectation, a social media tone preference, or a workplace performance standard. If you do not know these standards, it will be difficult to arrange your learning sequence, design practice content, and judge whether you have truly learned it.

So, what should those who do not know the "Done well" standard and are completely unable to describe that outline do?

Using the questioning process to assist in clarifying quality standards

Since the standard for "Done well" is, to some extent, an objective standard, you do not need to define the standard yourself, nor do you need to guess how others see it.

Simply by using the series of questioning processes mentioned in this set of articles, and explaining the thing or task you want to achieve along with its related background, AI can assist you in identifying the "minimum completion" and "high-quality completion" standards common for such tasks in real life.

After all, when describing things, we often leave something out; having a place where AI helps confirm is always a good thing.

Once you have reviewed the minimum standards and high-quality completion standards provided by the AI, you should have a good idea of "what might be better." At this point, you can already slightly describe the outline of "Done well."

Now, you can take this "Done well" standard and plug it into the first step of our learning process mentioned earlier, writing the corresponding task intent and your knowledge starting point to begin the entire learning journey.

What’s the Next Step after "Done well" stabilizes?

Through the learning process, we can already complete every task to achieve deep goals; in the workplace, this already surpasses many people.

However, in certain specific fields, if you have particular aspirations or want to secure a place in the market, simply "Done well"—reaching the level of deep goals—is sometimes insufficient.

If possible, if this "Done well" can simultaneously possess other added values, your output results can be raised to another level. This is when we move to our next step: Exceeding expectations.

What kind of standard is "Exceeding expectations"?

"Exceeding expectations" is not a basic requirement of the task itself, but comes from the extra expectations of a specific person or situation.

These expectations are usually subjective, implicit, and situational. They might come from a supervisor's preference, such as the style of a presentation or the rhythm of a reply. They might also come from a client's habits, such as the choice of tone, format preferences, or whether additional explanations are needed.

They might even come from a community's tacit understanding, such as whether the language style is relatable or if there is a design for emotional care.

These standards cannot be directly translated into skills; they must first be clarified to understand what kind of output would be viewed as "above and beyond."

Of course, "Exceeding expectations" is not about doing as much as possible, but about doing it just right and making it surprising. There is no guarantee that doing more is necessarily better; that is the most difficult part.

This kind of output often requires anticipating the needs of a specific person or situation—that is, being ready before the other party even speaks.

The needs in this area can be very diverse, including sensitivity to emotional care to make the other person feel understood and supported; consistency in style to match the other person's tone, format, and rhythm; or even providing extra options or perspectives while completing the task, letting the other person feel that your design is extensible and thoughtful.

Letting the questioning process assist in clarification

To clarify these implicit expectations and added values, you can activate the questioning module, explain the task content and background, and add three elements: Who is this task for? In what context is it being carried out? What kind of surprise or care do you hope the other person feels?

We provide the following text prompt, which you can rewrite to fit your situation:

Such a statement will activate AI's identification ability, helping you analyze the possible preferences, psychological characteristics, and states of the specific person you want to stun, and even provide a common "properly done but not surprising" version, letting you know how to move from qualified to thoughtful.

Because exceeding expectations mostly comes from the preferences of specific individuals or small groups, I highly recommend doing a lot of description in the "specific target" field above to help the AI specify the target.

Transforming standards that exceed expectations into skill learning directions

Once these added values are clarified in the AI's reply, you can issue another supplemental statement to ask the AI to assist in translating them into specific skill directions.

Such a translation will help you convert abstract tone characteristics into learnable skill intents and further generate quality standards, allowing you to return to the previous learning process and activate the resource navigation and language sparring flow.

Since your dialogue hasn't gone on too long yet, you don't need to re-explain your task goals and background information; you can directly use the original chat box for the conversion.

You can use the following Opening Line, rewriting it to fit your situation:

Does this paragraph look very familiar? This text prompt allows the AI to act like the first step in the learning process, expanding the corresponding learnable skill nodes.

After that, you can return to the second step of our learning process, picking the authoritative learning resources you need for different nodes, and utilizing the third step's AI sparring partner process and the final verification step to turn what were originally abstract "standards that exceed expectations" into methods for moving yourself forward.

You will notice that such a design not only helps you understand the linguistic features of "Exceeding expectations," but also gives you the opportunity to practice, verify, and internalize these abilities.

When you begin to be able to judge the deep goals behind every task and no longer just finish superficial delivery, you will be able to state what "Done well" means and allow yourself to get closer to that image with the help of AI.
